Don’t you just love surprises?
I do! The unexpectedness makes me feel instantly alive and firmly ensconced in the present moment! Surprise puts all my senses on high alert!
So… approach the next 30 days with the expectation of having a surprise every day.
My eyes are lighting up at the thought of it! Here’s what’s going to happen. I’ll give a new reACTION (aka surprise) each day. You will enter it on your 30 day board.
These little surprises will expand horizons, encourage new awareness and wake us up to new thoughts and ideas. It’s meant to be FUN and an adjunct to the day. If a surprise pops up you don’t like… no problem! Repeat one you did like.
It’s not important you do them all, what is important is that you do at least one every day! Hey you may choose to do a few of them every day and take more of an ‘intensive’ approach.
I do 30 Day Challenges a lot! Sometime I go hard and heavy and other times light and easy! Your call — they both work!
At some point in the 30 days you will notice… a shift.
reACTION [to change in the response to stimulus]: Day 2 – Detour
MY directionally challenged self LOVES my GPS but I’ve noticed that when I use it its like I’m on auto pilot… I make zero mental notes of landmarks and upon arriving at my destination I couldn’t do it again without my ‘friend’.
That’s what we do in our day to day lives, habitually follow deeply entrenched paths to get to where we’re going. Our senses are dulled our minds wander, often we’re not in the moment but working on the future or chewing on the past.
For today (all day) take different routes to get to where you’re going. Take a detour or long-cut (on purpose). Mode of transport includes all… you may be driving, walking, cycling or running.
Switching it up and taking a detour heightens the senses… suddenly we are more aware… we take notice of our surroundings. Doing this every day for a month would be FANTASTIC! Do it at least once a week.

This sounds like a great way to get ourselves “thinking outside the box”. I agree, it seems in life that so much of what we do is on autopilot, going through our days often not noticing what it is we are doing.

I tried a new route the other day and saw a new townhouse complex and an apartment building that have been erected in my neighbourhood…..it seems like they appeared overnight….I am sure it took them months to build!!
