Most of us are pretty good at seeing the big picture.
Caught up in the hectic pace of modern life, we automatically distinguish what is important from what isn’t. We make these calls when we’re engaged in our busy lives – everything relating to the success of what we’re doing right now is significant and everything else either insignificant or (even) unnoticed.
But what is most precious in life can’t be measured like this.
Think back to the truly wonderful moments of your life. What do you see? When we take the time to reflect, we often see that what is most precious is often not momentous.
In these magical moments we are simply awestruck by the wonderment of life.
We are each given many of these moments but often they are blocked by daily concerns, worry or anxiety and they pass by, never to be experienced again. To capture them, we need to adjust the lenses through which we view the world and open ourselves to their existence.
Magical Moments
Magical moments are not measured by the ‘composition’ of an experience but rather our reaction to it. Since such moments come and go quickly, they have to be consciously savored and noted. They stick with us only when we recognize the impact they have had on our mood, our day, and our lives. We may stand in awe at the beauty of a familiar object or enjoy an everyday activity. Or we may witness an incident of supreme kindness and compassion that does not directly involve us yet touches our heart intensely. Nature is a constant source of magical moments.
When we cherish them, we condition ourselves to take note and appreciate the value they add to our lives.
Capturing Magical Moments
The holidays are often filled with magical moments that are easy to spot. But these moments are there every day year round. An idea for increasing awareness of the magical moments in your life is to record all such happenings in a journal kept just for that purpose. As these moments are personal, your journal can be a documentation of small joys and/or a testimony of grand revelations.
It’s guaranteed you’ll notice that there is more magic in your life than you imagined.
In striving to acknowledge and make the most of these magical moments, you’ll grant yourself permission to experience new levels of Joy, surprise, tenderness and personal fulfillment.
A Holiday Wish
May your holiday be filled with magical moments that you will cherish. May these moments cause a shift in perception that allows you to see and experience all the magical moments that are there for you every day of the year.
Happy Holidays everyone may it be blissfully full of love, joy and magic.
