Part 2 of 5
Have you ever met someone who was lit from within? Impossible to miss they radiate joy and energy. “WOW…they’re amazing,” you say as you bask in the light of their high beams.
Safe to say they are living their passion.
Passions reflect our deepest nature and all that is truly meaningful and important to us. They are what we love.
When we’re truly passionate about something there is nothing that can keep us from it…we are irresistibly drawn in. A constantly renewing source of energy makes us unstoppable and time nonexistent. Fear, anger, depression and anxiety evaporate as happiness, joy and fulfillment envelops our being. We think, “this is what I was meant to do.”
When have you felt this?
Passions are a part of our nature and have been with us since birth, we’ve touched them. It may have been a pass by, brief visit or deep engagement. Circumstances may have required we move quickly and leave them behind. Uncovering them won’t come as a surprise but rather an emotion filled reunion with a beloved friend.
As I review my life I can see and feel the times I felt completely joyful, fulfilled and …unstoppable. They are unmistakable. I wonder why they are memories. Why no longer active? Self – make note of where I was, what I was doing, and with whom to build Passion Notes.
reACTION [to change in the response to stimulus]: find the clues in childhood
As children we play and do what we love. Whatever filled your time as a child may be the source of your passion and happiness today. Remember childhood activities. What made you happy? What did you love? Why did you love it?
Scan entire life starting from childhood to today….Is there a particular event, or topic or experience that made you light up? Maybe you felt it in your entire body as a feeling of exhilaration and stimulation or complete peace. What makes you smile when you think about it?
Record all responses.
A great book for uncovering passions is The Passion Test by Janet Bray Attwood and Chris Attwood.
