I am a sucker for creams, potions, serums, masks and scrubs that promise to reveal my true youthful self. I’ve now worked my way to the anti-aging and mature skin varieties with promises of cutting edge peptides, retinols, antioxidants, sea algae and who knows what else. I mean it is possible that one of these new discoveries will smooth my wrinkles and creases….right?
I’m always hopeful.
Ok…. I’m kidding (sort of)…. anyway I have discovered a real beauty potion that works! If we are fearlessly (re)discovering ourselves we want to look our best! This potion is guaranteed to put roses in the cheeks and twinkles in the eyes.
It’s the green drink! An emerald concoction filled with veggies like kale, beets, parsley and celery and made yummy with lemons. Before you nix the idea let me tell you I’ve offered it to many people and the first thing everyone says is, “You want me to drink that?” Undaunted, I push onwards, “try it”. “Wow this is pretty good,” they enthuse squeezing every drop from the glass. Even diehard junk-foodies have been known to say, “I was surprised…it was pretty tasty”. There’s something about this stuff that makes you feel healthy and vibrant! It provides renewed energy and is full of enzymes which help reverse the aging process, increase beauty and help with weight loss!
Here’s to the best beauty potion of all time. It’s for the goddess in all of us.
reACTION [to change in the response to stimulus]: Day 21- Green Goddess Elixir
If you don’t have a juicer it’s worth borrowing one to try this. I have an inexpensive one I bought with grocery store reward points a year ago that works like a charm.
Green Goddess Elixir in a juicer
Use any combination of the following. I use organic whenever possible.
1 bunch kale
2 heads of romaine lettuce
1 bunch spinach
1 bunch chard
Half bunch parsley
Half an English cucumber
4-5 stalks celery
2 beets
2 carrots
2 organic lemons
Feel free to mix and match the greens depending on what is local, seasonal and your personal preference.
Run all ingredients through the juicer. Lemons, if organic, can be washed and put through with peel. Ideally drink within 20 minutes of making to preserve enzymes.
Green Goddess Elixir in a blender #1
If a regular blender is the only thing available to you. Noooo Problem! You can still make a version of the Green Goddess Elixir.
1/2 granny smith apple diced
1 cup chopped packed kale
1/4 cup parsley
1 cup coconut water
Blend.
Green Goddess Elixir in a blender #2
Choose veggies with high water content:
1/2 english cucumber
3 stalks celery
1 small head romaine lettuce
2 lemons peeled
Add 1 – 2 cups water
Blend
Bottoms up! Cheers!
