Attttttention! At ease.
It seems I could have used a military drill sergeant to snap me into the present moment.
Instead I got red shoes.
How much time do you spend in the present moment?
Before the red shoes I would have responded….””What a ridiculous question! All of it!”
HA! Guess again!
The red shoes kept me firmly anchored in the present. A pair of shoes? Yes! Well….it wasn’t exactly the shoes (per se) but more the huge gusts of positive energy that engulfed me and the high alertness I was in while wearing them.I realized I was in a heightened state of present-ness.
Upon further inspection – I’m horrified to report – that before red shoes – I was only partially present. Ok…..I may have been semi conscious. I spent a lot of time in my head as I went through the day—creating multiple lists, projecting into the future, creating solutions for potential future problems, anticipating events not yet occurred and then of course there was always the past to revisit and chew on, regurgitate and re do. It was mental multi-tasking at its finest.
Holy Moly!
That’s a lot of time away from the present.
So… I thank you crazy red shoes for illustrating the importance of the present moment and anchoring me. I can do it without you now.
The present is where opportunities live and are revealed. I vow not to miss any more.
reACTION [to change in the response to stimulus]: Day 11 – Are you present?
Today, as you go about your day, check in with yourself…… where are you?
If not HERE and present—throw down an anchor.
Ponder:
There are gifts everywhere waiting to be unwrapped.
Opportunities multiply when we choose to see them.
