Cheryl: I just read that water is the most vital element that can boost our looks for free – true? I actually have to ‘schedule’ water drinking into my routine to make sure it gets done! Any tips? How much is enough?
PATRICIA: Good question Cheryl! If you think of a plum vs. a prune…the only difference is the hydration level. Water is essential to achieving luscious, glowing skin. How much you need varies with each person and depends on how active you are, how much caffeine and alcohol you consume and climate. Eight glasses of water a day is a good start, then add an extra cup for each cup of coffee or glass of wine. Start your day with two glasses of room temp water with lemon water to activate your liver. Get creative with your water by adding fresh fruit and herbs to make drinking water a little more exciting! Try sparkling mineral water, San Pellagrino in particular has essential minerals in it to help meet your nutritional requirements plus the oxygen bubbles help to wake up your brain!
Cheryl: Over the years I’ve made some pretty awful mistakes plucking eyebrows – I’m betting I’m not alone! What do we need to know? How to shape? It is so easy to…..OVERpluck!
PATRICIA: It’s important to work with the shape you were born with. You may see a picture of someone’s eyebrows and want to create the shape on yourself, this is where we get in trouble!
A fuller shape is softer on the face and creates a great frame for your features. Often, when the brows are well shaped it can give the effect of a lift to the face. I love to tint the eyebrows to accentuate the shape and to give a fuller longer brow.
Cheryl: Still on eyes…..We all seem to get puffy eyes occasionally and some of us have dark circles no matter how much sleep we get. What can we do?
PATRICIA: Eyes show how we are feeling and how our body is managing.
Darkness and puffiness under the eye can be genetics but often is a result of imbalance. High yeast and low iron are two common contributors. Loss of collagen in the eye area will make the capillaries show and make the area darker as well.
Creating circulation around the eye area can lessen the look. Work the skin around the eyes. When applying your cream, massage your eyes in a circular motion to help move the fluid, move the blood the sits in the little capillaries. When the blood sits it becomes deoxygenated gives a dark hue to the skin. Products with paprika work well to stimulate the skin, such as the Lime Stimulating Mask by Eminence.
Cheryl: I use the Lime Stimulating Mask and love it ….it tingles. Thanks Patricia!
