If you stopped holding yourself back what would you do? If you overcame fear how would life be different? You have to sit with these questions for a while. Taking time to work through the layers. Digging beneath — what others think, fear and the should’s to get to that tucked away place deep inside.
So what would it be?
Launch a new career…go back to school…write a book…leave an unhealthy relationship……unleash your luscious sexy self…quit job……get off the couch…go on a spiritual journey…lose weight…get fit…..become a vegan….discover passions…devote life to service…start a foundation….run for office…take a sabbatical….become a healer, an artist, a chef…the responses are as individual and unique as each one of us.
Last week I saw a video that captured how 10 women responded to that question. On February 1, 2014 they came together and put themselves in one of the most vulnerable situations imaginable. What they did is not for everyone. In fact most of us would take a pass. But for each of these women it was right and what they took away will forever change how they approach life.
There are powerful messages for all of us in the story of the 10 women.
If we want to stop letting fear influence our decisions then we have to be courageous. The best way to be courageous is to let go and dive in…in that precise moment fear is disabled…defeated…squashed. There is immediate relief as we exhaaale and realize, “I’m ok…I survived!” Next, euphoria fills our entire being as we inwardly shout, “I DID IT!” Nothing tops this. We feel we can take on anything. Indeed we can. We’ve gone to the other side and left fear, what others think, what’s right and what we should do behind. We are courageous and we are free.
What have you always wanted to try but you didn’t think you had the guts? What are you waiting for?
“Inaction breeds fear and doubt. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.” Dale Carnegie
